Sarah Scheid, LPC, PMH-C

In Person & Virtual

Accepts Private Pay, Aetna, Anthem/BCBS, and United Insurance

Hello and welcome! I’m Sarah Scheid and I am a licensed professional counselor specializing in individual child, adolescent, and adult therapy. I am the owner of Peaks Counseling and I hold over 10 years experience working in the field of counseling.  I’ve always had a passion for wanting to help others and I couldn’t be more grateful to have had my journey lead me here.  I currently serve as one of the main practitioners at Peaks Counseling and I work with a broad range of clients.  My training includes receiving my Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Development from Metropolitan State University of Denver in 2009 and my Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Heath Counseling in 2011.  My areas of expertise include grief, anger management, depression, anxiety, social/relational problems, play therapy, Autism Spectrum disorders, sensory processing disorders, trauma, and other various mood disorders. I also provides life coaching for adults in areas such as career, personal growth, relational/social growth, and general health/well-being.  Recently, I became certified in Perinatal Mental Health and I look forward to helping women with their pre-natal, pregnancy, and post-partum stages of motherhood.

I am a humanistic and person-centered therapist. My therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. I integrate complementary methodologies and eclectic techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding, I will work with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing. I am currently accepting patients Monday-Thursday and accept private pay or Anthem/BCBS, Aetna, and United Insurance.

When I’m not providing counseling services, I’m either traveling, spending time outdoors (skiing, hiking, paddle boarding, you name it), playing/watching sports, snuggling and playing with my pets (dog and cat), and spending time with my husband and my daughter and son who are the loves of my life. I absolutely love Colorado and all the adventures that come with our beautiful state.  I graduated from Cherry Creek High School in 2004 and I am very familiar with the Greenwood Village/ Centennial areas.  I have a huge passion for climbing mountains and even spent summer of 2015 reaching my goal of climbing to the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa! I believe with passion and motivation that anything can be accomplished. I hope that through my therapeutic work I can encourage others to achieve their goals and conquer their own personal “peaks!”

Karis Lambert, LPC

Licensed Professional Counselor

In Person & Virtual

Accepts Private Pay, Aetna, Cigna, and United Insurance

Hello! My name is Karis Lambert and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Colorado. I earned my Bachelors of Science in Human Development and Family Studies from Colorado
State University and my Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from the University of Denver. During my graduate studies I completed internships with adults in a drug and alcohol rehab and teenagers in a
school setting. After completing graduate school, I spent several years working at various eating disorder treatment centers in Colorado. I specialize in working with adults and teens struggling with anxiety, eating disorders, maternal mood disorders, body image distress, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and life transitions.

I am also trained in EMDR therapy. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an effective and thoroughly researched therapy designed to help individuals heal from emotional distress following traumatic or adverse experiences. EMDR was created for PTSD and trauma symptoms, but continued research demonstrated its effectiveness at treating a wide array of mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and maternal mood disorders. What is EMDR? When people experience traumatic or difficult experiences their nervous system and brains become overwhelmed, and the event cannot be fully processed. These
experiences get “stuck” in the brain and body. This can result in a multitude of psychological and physical symptoms. EMDR is designed to help get these memories unstuck by unlocking the nervous system and allowing the mind and body to heal.

I strive to be a person-centered therapist that believes therapy is an extremely personal experience that should be tailored to each person based on their needs, goals, and personal history. I work to create a
warm and authentic environment that we can utilize to explore different areas of your life that you feel stuck in. I believe that our emotions hold a lot of wisdom and power and should not be ignored but explored and validated. I utilize several different therapeutic modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, solution-focused, and dialectical behavioral therapy.

Outside of the therapy room I enjoy spending time with my husband and three kids. I love being
outdoors, connecting with friends, trying new restaurants, and treating myself to a delicious cup of
coffee. I’m excited you’ve taken this first, brave step in your journey. Please reach out if you have any
questions or would like to connect.

Dan Brown, LPC

Licensed Professional Counselor

In Person & Virtual

Accepts Private Pay, Aetna, Cigna, and United Insurance

Hello! I’m Dan Brown, a licensed professional counselor specializing in working with teens and young adults. I have been working with teens and young adults as a LPC for over 2 years, and previously worked with teens and young adults as a mentor, parkour coach, and youth leader. My areas of expertise include: anxiety, depression, loneliness, and  grief, PTSD, perfectionism, social struggles, and school related difficulties.
I am first and foremost a person-centered therapist. I believe that the best way to help a client is to start by listening and holding space. This allows an authentic connection to develop and sets the groundwork for further growth. As I develop an understanding of your specific needs, I can then tailor my approach to help you meet your individual goals. I also provide many evidenced based treatments which help rewire the nervous system to experience less dysregulation and increase motivation. These involve DBT skills, mindfulness techniques, and somatic experiencing techniques. These techniques have been thoroughly studied and have been shown to improve our brain’s long-term functioning. I love using these interventions because they can equip individuals to influence the growth of their own minds.
Outside of counseling I have numerous hobbies including reading too many fantasy books, playing ultimate frisbee, hiking, dancing, cooking, slacklining, rock climbing, playing video games, playing board games, and going on random adventures with my wife.
I just want to note that the teen and young adult years are often full of change and growth. This change often comes in the form of crises and adversity. Learning to face adversity often leads to profound growth. I would be honored to be a part of your journey and cannot wait to see the ways that you grow into your authentic self!
