I can assure you, this is not how the counseling process works in this day and age and I try to make things as comfortable as possible for my clients. At a counseling session you can expect to discuss whatever is on your mind and together you and the therapist will discuss possible solutions and help you to find answers to the problems you may be experiencing. We work together and build a strong rapport and take things at a pace that works for you. We will discuss together what the frequency and length of sessions will be. I also try to support my clients outside of the office so that they know I am available to help them even when they aren’t in the office. Counseling is meant to be a safe and non-judgmental place and I always strive to provide this for my clients. We work together to create strategies and to learn tools that will help you to deal with life stressors as they come along. I take a humanistic, person-centered approach, and cognitive-behavioral approach, which means I focus on the person as an individual and help them gain control of their emotions through cognitive techniques.
