Adult Counseling
Individual adult counseling is beneficial if you are looking to just improve your general well-being or if there is a particular life stressor you are experiencing. Whether it is the loss of a loved one and you are grieving, a career change, relationship issues, or problems with mood, counseling is a good place to start! We’re here to help you get on a healthier path and to feel like the best version of you!
How Counseling Works
Many people confuse counseling with the Freudian approach of laying on a couch and talking about their deepest, darkest fears. We can assure you, this is not how the counseling process works in this day and age and we try to make things as comfortable as possible for our clients. At a counseling session you can expect to discuss whatever is on your mind and together and we will discuss possible solutions and help you to find answers to the problems you may be experiencing. We work together and build a strong rapport and take things at a pace that works for you. We will discuss together what the frequency and length of sessions will be. We also try to support our clients outside of the office so that they know we are available to help them even when we’re not in the office. Counseling is meant to be a safe and non-judgmental place and we always strive to provide this for our clients. We work together to create strategies and to learn tools that will help you to deal with life stressors as they come along. We take a humanistic, person-centered approach, and cognitive-behavioral approach, which means we focus on the person as an individual and help them gain control of their emotions through cognitive techniques.
