How Peaks Counseling Makes an Impact

Counseling for teenagers in this day and age is of vital importance. Teenagers go through many different and stressful transitions and at Peaks Counseling we are here to support your teen through these tough times. We understand that pressure of academics, conflicts with peers, and social media all have a tremendous impact on our teens. That’s why we strongly believe it’s important to have someone to help guide them and to provide teens with a safe place to discuss their feelings. Depression and anxiety is extremely high among kids 12-18 years. Helping them to feel confident, happy, and successful is our mission! We take an approach that is unique to each teen that walks through the door. We make sure we get to know who they are, what their likes/dislikes are, and we cater treatment around what works best for each individual.

Services Provided

  • Talk Therapy – this is a primary means of counseling teenagers. Through open communication and providing a safe/non-judgmental atmosphere, this allows teens to feel comfortable discussing their personal thoughts. This also allows for a chance for us to provide guidance, insight, and suggestions.
  • Teaching Coping Skills – all therapy sessions provide an excellent opportunity to teach teens how to handle difficult emotions and feelings they may have. It is the hope that we can provide a wide array of “tools” that teens can use when they are dealing with problems.
  • CBT (Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy) – this is a technique that helps teens to challenge negative beliefs and thoughts. We teach them how to understand more about their thoughts and how to change patterns for the better.
